How much does an accountant cost for a sole trader?
Our sole trader packages are £30, £45 or £65 a month plus VAT. The right tier depends on whether you're in Making Tax Digital and whether you're VAT registered.
What happens when Making Tax Digital applies to me?
When your qualifying income passes the threshold, currently £50,000, you'll need to send quarterly updates. We'll move you to the Standard tier and confirm the new fee in writing before it applies.
What if my income falls?
If you drop out of Making Tax Digital or deregister for VAT, we'll move you to a lower tier and reduce your fee from the next month.
Is my tax return included?
Yes. Your Self Assessment tax return is included in every sole trader tier, with no extra charge.
Do I need to keep my own books?
In the Essential and Standard tiers, you keep simple records in software or a spreadsheet and we review them. In the Complete tier, we do the bookkeeping for you each month.
I'm a CIS subcontractor. Which tier do I need?
Most CIS subcontractors fit the Essential tier, which includes reclaiming overpaid CIS deductions through your tax return.
Is accounting software included?
You can use your own compatible software at no extra charge, or add software through us at the provider's price plus £5 a month, from £12.
Can I switch to you part way through the year?
Yes. Switching is free. We contact your current accountant and take over from the point you join.
