Accountants who know Welsh tax

Some taxes in Wales are set by the Senedd rather than Westminster. Welsh rates of income tax apply to your earnings and profits, property purchases pay Land Transaction Tax, and landlords have their own registration rules. We make sure each one is handled correctly for you.

  • One agreed monthly fee, with no hourly charges
  • Qualified AAT, ACCA and ICAEW accountants
  • HMRC and Companies House deadlines tracked and filed

Welsh accountant FAQs

Can you do my Welsh tax return?

Yes. Welsh taxpayers file Self Assessment with HMRC in the same way as the rest of the UK. The Welsh rates of income tax are applied to your earnings, self-employed profits and rental income, and we prepare and file your return with the correct rates.

How do I know if I'm a Welsh taxpayer?

It depends on where your main home is. If you live in Wales, you're usually a Welsh taxpayer, and your tax code will start with the letter C. If you've moved across the border during the year, we'll check which rules apply to you.

Are Welsh income tax rates different from England?

The Senedd sets part of each income tax rate for Welsh taxpayers, so it has the power to make them different. Savings interest and dividends are always taxed at UK rates. We keep track of the current Welsh rates and apply them to your return.

I'm a landlord in Wales. What do I need to know?

You need to register with Rent Smart Wales, and if you manage your properties yourself you'll usually need a licence too. When you buy a property you pay Land Transaction Tax instead of Stamp Duty, with higher rates on additional homes. We prepare your rental accounts and tax return and explain what applies to you.

Do limited companies in Wales pay different Corporation Tax?

No. Corporation Tax and VAT are the same across the UK. The Welsh rates only affect how directors and employees are taxed personally on their salaries.

Do I need an accountant based in Wales?

No. We work online with businesses across Wales, from Cardiff and Swansea to North Wales. You share records digitally and speak to your accountant by phone, email or video, on weekdays until 8pm and on Saturday mornings.
